Update 14th May 2020

Please bear with us whilst we yet again introduce a new way of doing business. Our 3 ways to shop, deliveries, collections and appointment shopping slots.
All the information is now updated on our website.

We will manage the shopping slots manually until we are happy and feel secure.

You're calls and emails requesting a slot will be logged and we have someone dedicated to organising slot times who will contact you.

It is the only safe way we feel we can manage the numbers onsite so customers can stay a safe distance and our staff can remain protected.

There is restricted access in some areas for safety reasons. The access is to outside areas only.

The hours are limited from Tuesdays to Sundays 12-4 pm so that we can still care for the plants when there are no customers on site.

Update 12th May 2020

We’ve had a lot of questions from you regarding reopening following on from the Government statement on Sunday night. As you can imagine this is alot for us to work out in a very short space of time. The safety of our staff and customers is paramount and for that reason we have decided to make visits to the Nursery available by appointment only. Our first appointments will be available on Friday 15th, please call the shop if you would like to make one. We ask that if you are just looking to purchase sundries, compost or fencing to do so via delivery. Please only make an appointment to visit the Nursery if you aim to purchase plants or pots, with a minimum spend of £25. We will be updating you all in due course with full details of our appointment process. This will include guidance on keeping yourself and others safe while on site, along with amended opening hours. We will be continuing to do deliveries, and also moving towards collection only options, so if you would like to order please do so following the guidance we have already set out. We are taking this seriously as if any member of our team gets the virus we would have to close and we do not want this to happen.

Please do not arrive at the Nursery tomorrow, you will be turned away.

We look forward to seeing you all when we can.

Keep gardening and Carry on

All members of staff have been working 50-60 hours plus per week so we can keep the business going so that at the end of all this we will still be here for you.
Peter and I would like to thank our amazing team.

Update 16th April 2020

Hi Everyone
We are getting orders out. Roughly 100 a day get delivered. It's not instant but rather than stop taking orders we are just letting you know there is a lead time of about 5 days.

Its been a completely new operation dealing with tons of paperwork and making calls to get orders processed and on the vans to be delivered in areas and groups.

Sending all your information on one email is helpful. Name address and phone number always with your email so we can call you back. If you later think of things you wish to add then tell us when we call you. Don't send an additional email. When we call we will be able to say what is in stock for delivery while we are reserving your order. Stock levels vary daily and we are also getting deliveries but it isn't that clear to us what we will get. Some suppliers are working some are not and some stock items have been in massive demand.

We are not an online nursery and normally deal with customers face to face so our stock is not listed online. We have put some availability on this blog under All Availability Lists . This includes compost and some plants list. We are trying our best to work through order requests in the order they have arrived. Calling does not jump the queue. A few orders ended up in spam and that always a mystery and we apologise. We have made a few mistakes. Mis layed the odd strip of cabbage or packet of seeds. We will refund you if you have not had the odd item or try to get it on another delivery but we can not quantify delivering one strip of lettuce to Brill etc.

Please do not approach the drivers. They are not gardeners! Do not attempt to check your order and hold up the driver or climb in the van to find it. We have a system! Stay indoors. These are contactless deliveries please respect that. If anything is missing in most case we have not charged you for it because as we discovered it was not able to go on the delivery. Any order quires or questions please email shop@thenurseries.com

Group orders are very helpful
We need one coordinator to send us an email with all recipients provisional orders (an idea of what is required as we are not an online store) and most importantly phone numbers as we will call each in turn to process the order and take payment. When we call we can make suggestions and additions to each order according to stock on the day.

This is a service for our regular local customer who we look forward to seeing when this crisis is  finally all over. Thanks to everyone who has been wonderful and all the lovely comments.
F.A.B.

Update 14th April 2020

Thunderbirds are all go this morning.1,2 and 3 are all out delivering.
Many apologises for the few orders that have slipped through the pc spam net we are sorting them.

Note for group orders:

We are now asking to have all the village or neighbours orders on one email and all the phone numbers with the provisional individual orders. We can then call everyone at the same processing time. This is to make it easier to process orders all together for one delivery. The additional emails can get a bit confusing as we are have such a high volume of orders.
Amendments and additions to orders can be made when we call you

Happy Easter folks.

The vans are not delivering today and we are not taking orders. It is Easter Sunday!
We are currently processing order mainly from Tuesday.

We are introducing a minimum order of £25 for local delivery. If you do need a smaller order please consider a group order with friends and neighbours to one drop off point.

Update 4th April 2020

Just launched a new stock list here on the blog. Look in All Availability Lists . (Nandina domestica Obsessed pictured) These are the large evergreen shrubs towards the back of the nursery, We have a lot more stock but it has taken me 2 days just to list just this department. We are not set up as an online shop and we really are only interested in helping out our local customers who can not get here as the gates are closed in this crisis.

Update 2nd April 2020

Please do not call to see if we have received your email for at least for 3 days. It prevents us from calling people about orders we are trying to process.

Yesterday we got loads of deliveries out. We are still behind on the huge amount of orders coming in but we are catching up and if you have sent us an order we will get back to you. Please send orders to shop@thenurseries.com and we will call you back when we are processing it.
Group village orders that we can bring out in one van load are very helpful. They require a central drop of point and someone to coordinate collection times so we can still maintain social distance. They can be organised on a weekly basis.

Update 29th March 2020

We are still taking orders for our local customers.

Please bare with us as it all completely new. We have been inundated with requests but we are keeping up. I am adding more lists of plants and compost to All Available Plants on my gardening blog. The link is on our website. When I have complied all the plant lists I will post them and email them to all Garden Club Members. Currently you can see fruit, roses and compost on the blog.I shall soon add trees. We are getting into a good system and becoming more organised every day. We have got loads of orders out and have established that some of our suppliers such as compost and vegetables will still be doing deliveries us so we will hopefully be able to continue contactless deliveries to your door.
Do not under any circumstance come to the nursery.
So keep calm and carry on gardening as they say!
The good will and cheer is wonderful. Thank you for all the lovely encouragement. Love to you all.

Send orders to shop@thenurseries.com with your telephone number and address. We will call you back to finalise what you need and take payment. We are working in order. It will be difficult to get through on the phone as we are calling customers back to process the orders.

26th March 2020 Update

Cassie is hopeful she misses the customers and the dogs visiting!

We have a back log of orders and are working to capacity. We only have Oak doing the contactless deliveries, as he is a family member.
Peter is calling people back as efficiently as he can whilst trying to organise what people want into villages. They delivered until 10pm last night.Email your order enquiry to shop@thenurseries.com
Please don't just ring for a chat have a good idea of what you want use our social media as we do not have an online shop. There is a compost list on my gardening blog.
As we get more in order we will aim to move to the delivery days but current we are just trying to get grouped area deliveries out.
We hope to have more supplies of particularly vegetable some suppliers are working and delivering and some have stopped.
Currently we do no have all the answers.

Potato Varieties In Stock 2020

There is very little potato stock now available anywhere
due to the surge in GYO.
One of the main enquiries at the present is what potatoes do we have in stock, so here is a list of potatoes and onions and also shallots.
Potatoes go in traditionally on Good Friday and onions and shallots go in now.
We buy our spuds now and most let them form little sprouts or chits. It is considered this gives them a head start but it is not essential.
