Fantastic figs. For a great crop grow them in pots. Figs need their roots restricting so they actually get on with the job in hand, fruit rather than roots and foliage and no fruit. Hence the old wife's tale plant in a Gladstone bag!
In the ground restrict the roots in a extra large buried container or by lining the hole. A pot is much easier. Give them a warm sunny sheltered spot and do water and feed with tomato feed as the fruit is produced. Fruit can sometime take an awful long time to ripen as they can produce multiple crops in warm climates. Here in the UK they are generally harvested in the autumn but any really tiny fruits you leave on the plant for the following year in the UK. Varieties Brown Turkey and Brunswick are self fertile.
