Euronymus Alatus or The Burning Bush

Euonymus 'Atlas' or the burning bush is a simple deciduous shrub with some of the very best autumn foliage when green leaves turn into rich red and pink and are truly stunning.

It is not surprising this shrub has its Award of Garden Merit, the autumn colour is outstanding. In spring it has small greenish flowers later followed by purplish-red fruits splitting to reveal orange seeds. The bark is described as having a corky texture. It normally grows to 2m in height. Other names include winged spindle and winged euonymus.
