It is a cacophony of colour on the nursery one of the things really catching my eye is the gerbera which we have out in orange (Patio Pinnacles) and red (Patio Volcano,) big heads of dynamic colour the size of sunflowers (about 10cm).
Annuals ideal in a summer pot or to zing up a border for an instant pop of colour. These grow about 40cm tall, 25cm wide.

Chocolate cosmos is another summer indulgence with its rich velvety almost black flower and divine chocolate fragrance. Plant it with a contrast and I would recommend a fiery orange.

Also with a divinely deep rich flower, Dahlia Bishop of Llandaff. It is tall at 50cm-1m and it will punch deep summer colour into your borders.

Another red that refuses to be missed is vibrant Salvia Roman Red. A brilliant primary red. It will whack a bit of heat into a bed.
