Cytisus or broom a fluffy brush like evergreen shrub that
turns from unassuming green to a blaze of glorious colour overnight. The
colours are bright and rich but not garish. Subtle rusty orangy tone, rich reds
and strong yellows are my favourite.
Cytisus Lena
They are easy shrubs to grow in poor well drained soil and would suit a hot position Mediterranean style garden.
We have Cytisus Boskoop Ruby, Lena and Vanessa. Some are
also grown as standards which have the effect of a little tree with a long stem
of a few feet and a top worked canopy of shrub.
