Clematis viticella Plena Elegans and clematis viticella Polish Spirit
Its so simple, just look at that colour. Here we have Clematis Plena Elegans adorning a marble leaved photinia. Clematis viticella Polish Spirit is entwined with the dark red foliage of the cotinus (smoke bush.) Towards the end of the path a David Austin rose ramble below the wisteria. The under planting is Geranium Rozanne combined with sedums for late colour. To the right a border of Munstead Wood rose and Wisley 2008 under planted with a mix of herbaceous.

Clematis triternata Rubromarginata
Clematis triternata Rubromarginata with aromatic marzipan flowers scrambles through the second flush of flowers on the wisteria.

Thriving on neglect yet it still surprises me with a wonderful flush of exciting colour. Clematis viticella varieties are a gift. Growing any aspect. Trim them down to size in late February as they flower on the current years new growth.
