Hydrangea arborescens Annabelle Stunning Summer Flowers

Hydrangea arborescens Annabella

Probably the most admired hydrangea. It is certainly the variety everyone knows. Stunningly fresh beautiful balls of flowers. Something about it brings out all we love about summer.

Arborenscens refers to its tree like characteristics. This hydrangea can grow large 1.5m to 2.5m but I read about some choosing to cut it back hard and grow it like a boundary, so there are different schools of thought as to how it should be maintained. You have a choice. The flower on new wood so its good to prune lightly after flowering but you can if you prefer cut them right back.

Moist rich neutral soil in sun or partial shade are what they like. Feeding will produce larger blooms but a little too much and the growth may end up a bit floppy so it is a balance.

Pink Annabelle, Sweet Annabelle and Ruby Annabelle are now shades of pink, fantastic warm pinks with equally gorgeous heads.
