Magnolias Month of Glory

Magnolia stellata (Star Magnolia)

Magnolias really about to have their month of glory. I have seen the deep purple Susan, soft pink Betty, Magnolia × loebneri Leonard Messel, M.stellata, Magnolia × soulangeana and Vulcan another deep coloured variety all flowering soon.

What amazing shrubs. Structurally interesting even when not in flower. I love the fury buds before they open. Stellatas above are know as a star flower magnolia in response to the style of flower.

Not to be over looked are the evergreen magnolias, Grandiflora. We have these also grown on standards that like a lolly pop tree.
