A fantastic garden to visit. Set in the Cotswolds and only a short drive from Buckingham. If you haven't already go and see this garden. It is next door to Hidcote an equally lovely garden. This is Kiftsgate. It’s a garden that has been loved and its a garden with a vast and interesting collection of plants. A lot of thought has gone into the placing of plants and much consideration has been taken over colour.
The Lower Garden
Looking up from the Lower Garden to The Banks
A new addition is the Water Garden.
Its set in a beautiful location and the views are wonderful. Lots of windy woody paths take you into dramatically different garden settings. Very different setting if you concider the modern newly built water garden largely laid to lawn celebrating a water feature composed of copper leaves.
The White Sunk Garden |
The Seated Lady |
The fabulous Cornus controversa Variegata |
The white blossomed Kolkwitzia were very refreshing adding more uplifting highlights and l revelled in the Cornus controversa Variegata (Wedding Cake tree) near the entrance and the Schizophragma integrifolim scalling the walls of the house .
Huge Pittosporum.
If I had to name a plant that made an impression it would be the thriving pittosporums planted in the rough hillsides. The silver foliage lifted the landscape providing perfect highlights. The white blossomed Kolkwitzia were very refreshing adding more uplifting highlights and l revelled in the Cornus controversa Variegata (Wedding Cake tree) near the entrance and the Schizophragma integrifolim scalling the walls of the house.
Lastly but not least here is the famous Kiftsgate rose.
We must go back there is more to see. This is a lovely garden.
