If you have an unwelcome space this is the plant to have. In a well drained warm south west position it may be perennial but it would need to be a warm spot. It also tolerates fairly dry conditions.

Salvias are superb plants for summer. Probably the most popular and ideal in pots is the Salvia Hot Lips. As the name sugests its bright red but tasteful. As the summer warms the tips of the red petals tum white producing the white lips.I will often plant 3 in a large terracotta pot and leave them to it. They don't need quiets as much attention as some of the more tender bedding plants and they won't flop the first time they get a bit dry. Obviously water and feed them but they will tolerate dryer conditions.

Salvia Farina Arctic Blue
Salvia  Arctic Blue I find perfect for gaps in the the border and ideal for simple troughs. They create a soft lavender effect. They also give you a little bit of height. These plant well in rows so they can edge paths tidily. Like most salvias they need water but don't need a lot of tending. Simple snip off the faiding flower stems to allow the new to continue.
