New Hybrid Hellebores or Lenten Roses

Many of these new hybrid varieties are crossed with Orientals varieties and therefore more of a Lenten rose. We tend to see some stronger colours and slightly later flowering than the H. Niger and those varieties crossed with the early Christmas rose.
Some of the new hybrid hellebore are absolutely fantastic. Really good colours long flowering periods and prominent flowers hanging above the foliage rather than nodding underneath. They appear be be both tough and resilient. Due to the care taken in breading these plants are true to type. They robustly well in my wet clay changeable soil.
Whist we all love the white Helleborus Niger and all its varieties such as Christmas Carol the intense and interest shades of some of these hybrid are unsurpassed.
